THE ‘Wee Lifeboatman’ trophy, presented to Donaghadee Golf Club by the coxswain and crew of the town’s lifeboat more than 40 years ago, is still raising funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution – the charity that saves lives at sea.
Ladies’ captain, Eleanor Alcock, presented a cheque for £450 to the Donaghadee branch of the RNLI on Sunday. The money was raised at an open tournament, sponsored by estate agency John Minnis, in which more than 70 players took part.
The ‘Wee Lifeboatman’ trophy is presented to the top lady player who is a member of Donaghadee Golf Club. This year’s winner was Linda Crawford.
“The trophy is very much a part of the club’s history and every lady golfer wants to take home the ‘wee lifeboatman’” said Eleanor.
