IN the 25 years that Richard Talbot has been landlord at the Cock and Bottle pub in Notting Hill, London, staff and regulars have raised more than £13,000 in support of their adopted lifeboat in Donaghadee.
“Lunchtime tips and money found by the cleaners all go into the lifeboat fund,” said Richard whose wife is a native of the seaside town in Northern Ireland.
“But we have also raised money by holding pub quizzes, sponsoring ‘silly bets’ and through the sale of pub cigarette lighters. The customers are quite imaginative,” he added.
Donagahadee crew and fundraisers made a special presentation to thank the publican, his staff and customers for their support when Richard visited the town last week.
